My toddler was out of nappies at 19 months, due to following the principles of BLPT. I say principles like there is a checklist to follow, but the beauty of this book is the flexibility of the approach. The book is divided into sections – history and biology of baby led potty training, advice for age ranges and reaching completion.

Absolutely brilliant. Buy this book – you will not be disappointed! A user-friendly and empowering guide.

I cannot say nice enough things about this book. This was given to me by a friend who had started elimination communication with her first child and to be honest, if I hadn’t read this book, I would have thought that this was the sort of thing that only hippy mums would do BUT it has been one of the best things we’ve done with our little one.

Thanks to this book, we have practised baby-led potty training since our daughter was born. This book is written really clearly and is easy to understand, and what I particularly liked was that it’s not an all-or-nothing approach; the author lays out many ways that potty-training can be practised flexibly, depending on you and your baby. I constantly recommend this book and method to friends with little ones as it has been so worthwhile for us.

A really helpful and practical book about how we can use Baby Led Potty Training in our modern UK lives. People thought I was creating extra work for myself by doing Baby Led Potty Training but I honestly think it was the easiest, laziest option – hardly any dirty nappies to clean up! I loved it!

I dare you to give it a go!

Easy to follow practical guide to reading your baby and getting them to use the toilet from birth. I started reading this after my daughter had gone to bed and thought I would give it a try the next day. The next morning she did her first wee and poo on the potty. She was three months old!

Excellent all round book on Baby led potty training and Elimination Communication. It was easy to read and follow and I felt the advice was more main stream than some of the other EC books out there. I am only doing it part time and the book was good for that but would also appeal to full time EC’ers. I particularly liked the historical section as it put everything into context and the biology of toilet training so I can manage my expectations on how we will progress. I would highly recommend this to mum’s to be or anyone who has a baby under 18 months that is yet to be potty trained.

A wet nappy does not mean failure as a parent

newborn babies have no control over their bodily functions. This sort of book causes me extreme concern as some new parents believe they are a failure if their baby has a wet or dirty nappy. By all means read it if you must but tiny babies cannot be toilet trained. The author is not a medical professional or a health expert. It is a method which she used on her own children which worked for her. It won’t work for everyone as each child is different and the last thing anyone wants is anxious children and anxious parents all due to toilet habits. Just looking at anxiety about a child who still wore nappies at 15 months fills me with horror! It is NORMAL. i find books like this really concerning as those babies and children who aren’t clean by a certain age are somehow abnormal. This is very very wrong

Picked up this book before the recent birth of our son. I had heard about BLPT through some cloth nappy groups and was initially a bit put off by how tricky it sounded and difficulties starting at different ages, eg. after 6 months. This book has a simple and extremely positive approach. With clear explanations of the physiology and reasons behind each step, tips and tricks from other parents the whole way through, Amber makes it easy to see how you can use the principles with any age baby. The pictures of the baby positions over the potty are also very useful. We’ve been using the ideas with our 5 day old with great success, at least 50% less nappies than with our first born. Get the book.
