This book is an awesome introduction to starting readers or a refresher for those that used to be into reading but had fallen out because of busy schedules or just lost interest. It is a compelling story of a laborer turned boxer from Fairbanks, Alaska living his life. One of the top ten books that I have read which include others such as War & Peace by Tolstoy and The Stand by Stephen King. For readers of all ages.

Roman “Left Handed” Losinski is a man who is determined to be the “Champion”. This little book is an easy read. After I read it to myself I read it aloud to my 11 year old granddaughter, even though she reads well herself. I’ve always enjoyed reading to my sons and daughters, and their friends over the years. This book lends itself to the type of reading aloud I like to do. Cobbett writes in a descriptive manner and you will feel many strong emotions as Roman works with his trainers and alone to become “Champion”. As Roman and his team travel from the desert to the mountains to train, Cobbett paints a word picture of the places that make you feel as if you’re there. And you’ll get to know each of the characters as Cobbett brings out each individuals’ personality, passion, and emotions. There’s romance and a surprise ending, too ! ! !

Mr. Cobbett has written a heart-warming story about friendship and one person’s dreams in “Champion: A Story of the Happy Life of Roman ‘Left-handed’ Losinski.” In an easy to read writing style, the story grabs you from the very beginning and doesn’t let up until the end.

From start to finish, this short book keeps you rooting for Roman and his team, climbing those hills (and mountains) with them, feeling every punch in the ring and every triumph. Cobbett’s attention to detail puts the reader right in the middle of every scene, even with something as small as a description of a meal. The ending is surprising and yet exactly as it should be. Bravo, Roman. Bravo, Miles Cobbett!

A MUST read!

A thoroughly enjoyable and easy read. You don’t even realize how easy it is to get lost in the story and read through the whole story in one sitting. Well done Miles, thanks.

I just spent a wonderful afternoon reading this book. I’m not sure if it’s a kid’s book, written for adults or and adult’s book written for kids. Either way, it pulled me in and I enjoyed it to the end.

Former heavyweight champ Frank L. Jackson, was going to interview Roman Left-handed Losinski for a gardener’s helper (Sedona Times Courier). The newspaper hadn’t told the whole package deal of the job though. Roman took it anyway ($8.00 hr.).
